Navigating the Complexities of Biomarker Testing in the Expanding Field of Precision Immuno-Oncology
Latest Evidence, Current Challenges, and Practical Guidance for Pathologists

6:00 PM – 7:05 PM

This live web broadcast of the PeerView Virtual Seminar and Workshop will provide participating pathology professionals with evidence-based and practical expert instruction on biomarker testing in the era of precision cancer immunotherapy. In the Seminar segments, our expert panel will review evidence on current and emerging immunotherapies and biomarkers, and the Workshop segments will focus on the nuances of applying this evidence to pathology practice, as well as strategies for collaborating with oncology professionals to interpret biomarker testing results when making clinical decisions for patients with cancer.

The Pathology-Oncology Partnership in AML
Identifying and Treating the Diversity of Disease Subtypes

8:45 AM – 9:50 AM

This session will highlight the importance of the pathology-treating clinician partnership to modern AML care, and illustrate how this key relationship can link to other members of the management team (such as nurses or other advanced practice clinicians). Using a “Seminars and Tumor Board” format, our expert panel will explore how modern, team-based treatment decisions are guided by the results of molecular/pathology testing across a wide range of AML settings, and describe how new evidence influences pathologic assessment across the continuum of AML care

HER2/3 Across Solid Tumors: Toward Harmonization of Pathology and Oncology to Optimize Diagnosis and Management

6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

HER2 amplification has been increasingly recognized as a frequent abnormality in not only breast cancers, but also gastrointestinal cancers, enabling oncologists to administer HER2/3-targeted therapies to these patients as well. Testing for HER2 is an important step in determining which patients will benefit from treatment with HER2-targeted agents. HER2 amplification and overexpression, however, are much more heterogeneous in gastrointestinal cancers compared with breast cancer, with incomplete membrane staining resulting in the need for an exclusive scoring and interpretation system for gastrointestinal tumor samples. While EGFR, another receptor related to HER2, has long been a target successfully treated in patients with non–small cell lung cancer, novel anti-HER2 agents have emerged to combat tumor resistance. Across tumor types, HER3 amplification may be an indication of treatment resistance, and targeting HER3 in addition to HER2 may be a novel way to specifically treat these tumors.
